 Hoist

I had a 2 post hoist at my previous location.  However; I was not entirely happy with the setup for the type of work that I generally do on my cars. Driving over the center plate daily and/or having to use ramps/blocks when lifting was always a pain in the neck for the Super Seven.

Now that I have retired and moved back to Vancouver Island the new shop required a new lift.   I selected the Peak 407-P (7000ibs) four post lift.  I added the sliding bridge jack J5H (6000 lbs).  This shorty lift is perfect for the Super Seven and leaves maximum space in the garage.

 Serial Numbers for Fejer Cars

- After a discussion with a fellow Fejer Owner we could decipher the serial number for our cars.  the last 2 digits are the sequence number from the date that Fejer was granted manufacturer status from the Canadian Federal Government.

This one is the #62 built.

If you find this post and want to add your car to the list.  feel free to add a comment.

Importing a Super Seven into Canada

The process is surprisingly easy for a vehicle over 25 years old old. It is exempt from federal inspection.

I contacted Melanie at Autocross vehicle services in Vancouver.  The fee was $250 for processing, verifying and coordinating all the import paperwork.  This is well worth the cost as AVS also found errors in the Washington State title. They complete the paperwork and sent it to USA customs for 72-hour clearance.

USA Customs check the car for theft and stolen parts etc.  Then it clears it for export.

ACV  also took care of the GST on the import on my behalf.   Gst is paid on the documented import value of the car.

The import required the following:
- copy of bill of sale
- copy of title signed by the seller
- copy of Vin
- Import S3 forms

I choose to use Canuck towing to pick up the car from Sodo-Moto.  They brought the car to the border after the 72 hour USA customs wait time and completed:

- import paperwork is taken to Canadian Side
- as the car was brought in on a carrier (flat deck) is was a commercial paperless import.   More about the paperless import issues later.
- Canuck then hauled the car direct to my house.  This turned out to be cheaper than me renting a car trailer and taking the ferry in two directions.

Total cost for the import from Seattle to Vancouver, then Ferry over to Victoria and Drop off service was $800.

The car needs to be imported to bc and have the pst paid and then registered.
- BC Inspection is next after a few maintenance items.
- Inspection is at Ian Tait Mechanical for $145

Feb 15 update:  if commercial carriers are used you will end up with a paperless import case number.  BCAA does not know what to do with this and will force you to go back to CBSA for a paper version of the import document with 2 stamps.  Or if you have two days to sit at the Autoplan agent they can sort out the new paperless process.

Perhaps in a few years, this will be a smooth process but being the 1st paperless import to victoria it was a PIA.

CBSA is only a few KM away and a helpful agent contacted the importer and ICBC and within the hour I was on my way with an old fashioned double stamped import form in triplicate :)

Front Fender Gap

Winter project 2022-23:

The gap from the front tire to the edge of the clam shell fender is 5 1/4"   while the rear is set at 3".

The chassis height is perfect so I do not want to change this.   The solution is to remover the fenders, adjust the mounts and then reattach the fenders.

Fingers crossed the headlights have enough adjustment to point in the correct lane.

These highlight the large fender gap.   No on to testing a solution.

Buy 3/16 x 1" fender welt.

Remover fenders, lights and adjust front fender support down 2 1/2".  Re weld support and test fit.

Step 2 was making custom spacers to realign the headlights.  Presto ! Winter project done.   Oil change and it will be ready for spring.

mirrors

Blind spots were a problem with original mirror locations.

Great view of the fender but not able to see cars behind.    So changing the bolts on windshield frame and then relocated mirrors slightly higher and closer to frame.    Removed the extension arms too.

This was version 1 but still difficult to see blind spots.

Raised location with the extension arms added.   This is the best option so far.
